![]() Please join the ISCEBS Richmond Chapter on Thursday, November 30th for our Annual Meeting. Our guest speaker for the event is Dominic Willsdon, Executive Director of the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
Dominic Asmall Willsdon is a museum director, curator and educator in the field of modern and contemporary art. Since 2018, he has served as Executive Director of the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University, and as an associate professor in art education at VCUarts. Willsdon was formerly Leanne and George Roberts Curator of Education and Public Practice at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, a Curator of the 9th Mercosul Biennial in Porto Alegre (2013), a Co-Curator of the 9th Liverpool Biennial (2016), and Curator of Public Programs at Tate Modern (2000-2005). His publications include Public Servants: Art and the Crisis of the Common Good (MIT, 2016), and Visual Activism (Sage, 2022). He has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Visual Culture since 2005. Willsdon holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Essex and a master's degree with honors in fine art from Edinburgh University.
