Current Employer: University of Virginia Background: I was born a musician and began my professional career as a pianist and faculty member teaching piano, piano pedagogy, and theory. After several years mentoring a piano preparatory program for the pedagogy program, I decided to pursue an M.B.A. My career path changed from music to the health industry after obtaining my management degree. I became involved in health finances and completed another Master's degree, this one in health administration. Favorite Richmond restaurants: The Local in the Belmont area provides great food, a casual atmosphere, and the opportunity to carry on a conversation; The Ivy Inn is the place to celebrate that special occasion and dine on fantastic food. Music, dog rescue, UVA Baseball, gardening, and travel. Activities, Interests: Music, dog rescue, UVA Baseball, gardening, and travel. What got you into the benefits field? Being involved with health finances helped me secure a position at the University of Virginia working with the UVA Health Plan which is housed in the benefits division. The benefits information I gleaned from CEBS classes put health financing into perspective and helped me make more informed and well-rounded decisions. |
